SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS IN COLOMBIA |

VISITING PROFESSORS ICETEX grants financial aid to foreign teachers and experts who come to Colombia invited by universities to participate as lecturers on: Seminars, forums, workshops or symposiums in specialization programs with high level of research, master and Ph.D. ICETEX allows the visit of these experts by financing international air tickets or paying a maintenance stipend for approved professors. The aim of this program is to strengthen higher education quality in Colombia. REQUIREMENTS: ICETEX financial aid will be conditioned to the following requirements: 1. Registration of the requesting University in the Reciprocity Program for Foreign Students in Colombia by sending a communication stating the willingness of the Institution to grant the 100% of tuition fee and all academic expenses to foreign applicants to graduate scholarships and a list of graduate programs, number of places for each program and registration deadlines. 2. Academic institutions information must be updated yearly and the financial aid can be requested once ICETEX receives the academic institution acceptance to participate in the program. 3. International professors or experts must participate in specialization with high level research, master or Ph.D. programs in any academic field. 4. The expert must be resident abroad. 5. The professor must be well-known by the international scientific community. Master and Ph. D. programs must be recognized by Master and Ph.D. National Commission or Superior Council (for National University). DOCUMENTS: After registration to the program, higher education institutions or research centers interested in financial aid, must submit the following documents to International Relations Deputy Direction of ICETEX and to Territorial Directions if they are not located in Bogota: 1. Application form available in ICETEX Website. This new form must be duly filled out to make easier the approval. 2. Detailed information about the program in which the international professor or expert will participate. 3. Work plan to be developed by the visiting professor during his/her stay in Colombia, which describes his/her contribution to the program (Master or Ph.D.), time, schedule, etc. 4. Programming of international expert's visit , including exact dates of arriving and departure. 5. Justification of benefit or importance of the visit to Colombia and/or to graduate program. 6. Brief Curriculum Vitae of professor or expert. 7. Official letter from the Legal Representative of academic institution requesting funding. 8. Observation: Financial aid applications from academic institutions that are not registered in the program will not be considered. ALLOWANCES TO BE COVERED: ICETEX will finance one of the following items: 1. Round- trip air ticket in economic class. 2. Maintenance (Accommodation and Board Allowance) according to the amounts stated in annual costs resolution. The item to be financed will be established by ICETEX. Maintenance allowance will be increased annually. PUBLICATION: On December of each year, the International Relations Deputy Direction will inform to Territorial Directions and will publish on ICETEX website the documents reception deadlines for next year. APPROVAL CRITERIA ICETEX will consider the following approval criteria: 1. Opportune applications receipt. 2. Complete fulfillment of application forms (This document is very important considering that it makes the procedure faster). 3. Benefits of the visit to educational and scientific development of the country. 4. Registration of higher education or research institution in the Scholarships for Foreign Citizens in Colombia Program. 5. Contributions to the consolidation and strengthening of graduate programs. 6. Country of origin. The International Relations Deputy Direction of ICETEX could request assistance from National Institutions for experts' selection. The decision will be informed directly to the academic institution by an "Agreement Letter". Once the expert has been approved, the higher education or research institution must recognize the granted support by ICETEX in the publishing booklets of the program in which the expert will participate and submit to ICETEX an exact amount of invitations stated in the approval letter. If the event is postponed and/or if there is any change of the approved experts, the academic institution must request ICETEX authorization. LEGALIZATION: The International Relations Deputy Direction of ICETEX will inform to legal representatives of higher education or research institutions about the approval of international experts or professors. These communications are named "Agreement Letters". They include the requirements and necessary documents for payment. This letter must be signed by the university's principal and returned to ICETEX. Once both parties have signed the "Agreement Letter" it is understood that all conditions have been accepted. Observation: It is important that the academic institute sends to ICETEX the exact documents mentioned in the "Agreement Letter" to make the payment procedure.
